Frankelfest

In 2011, Connor House partnered with Kappa Sigma fraternity to coordinate the first annual John Frankel Memorial Scholarship Kickball Tournament at Davidson College. A member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, the Student Government Association, club and intramural sports and Leadership Davidson, Frankel died in a car accident in upstate New York on Dec. 31, 2010. John was adored by Connor House and the entire Davidson Community. At Davidson, John was known for his leadership and his ability to do seemingly everything with an effortless smile and carefree optimism. Despite the hectic pace of Davidson life, there was always time for a late-night milkshake run, philosophical ramblings, or a friend in need.

The scholarship campaign led by John’s friends and family has already raised over $200,000, which illustrates the tremendous amount of love and support John’s entire extended network has demonstrated thus far. However, their final goal is to make it a restricted scholarship, which requires $250,000. A restricted scholarship would allow the Frankels and James (John’s brother) to chose who they would like to receive the scholarship, through either requirements or interviews.
